Cafè Balear, the temple of seafood cuisine in Menorca

The Cafè Balear is one of the temples of reference for seafood cuisine in Menorca, and which is renowned throughout the national and international geography. In fact, many consider it the best restaurant in Menorca to taste fish and seafood from the island, in addition to its calderetas and seafood rice.

Located in the port of Ciutadella, it has been run since 1970 by the Caules family. First the parents of Josep Caules, the current owner and soul of this great restaurant that had its beginnings in a small port tavern, and now little by little his sons Josep and Francesc are taking over.

Going to Cafè Balear is synonymous with quality and good food. I can still remember one of the first interviews I did with Bep Caules, asking him what was the secret of his success. He replied that he was simply following one of the tips his mother gave him: "Never feed your customers what you wouldn't eat yourself".

For a couple of years the Balearic has been showing us a new image, renovated, more spacious, more comfortable, but with the same great attention to customers, whether from the menu or a la carte, their kindness and treatment is also a of its values, and going there is always a gastronomic feast, a feast for all the senses. It is one of those restaurants with a memory, from which you always remember a dish, a preparation, a detail that makes you come back, and that is why it has a loyal clientele, and that going to eat there, in the Balearics, is being a ritual that, like the great parties and celebrations, is repeated and repeated.
