Carravalseca Crianza 2017

Carravalseca Crianza 2017

Thanks to Vinum Menorca this week we recommend a red wine from the prestigious Casa Primicia wineries, located in one of the capitals of La Rioja Alavesa, which is La Guardia. This is Carravalseca Crianza 2017, an organic wine, with little filtering and with both European and ENEEK organic farming seals. 100% Tempranillo with 14 months of aging in new French and American oak barrels and its label reminds us of the engravings of almanacs, what we know here as parenòstics.

Tasting note

View: Very intense cherry color. High layer, clean and bright.

Nose: Intense and highly complex. The notes of raspberry and black currant, dairy products such as yogurt and roasted products such as coffee stand out.

Mouth: Good entry. Voluminous, structured, polished tannins and long finish. Memories of candied fruit and red fruit jams

Pairing

As a good DOC Rioja wine, it will pair well with meats. Especially with beef, lamb and poultry, without leaving aside pork and fish such as cod. Ideal for charcuterie boards, cheeses, tapas and skewers as well as winter dishes made with mushrooms.

It will go perfectly with a grilled beef tenderloin accompanied by some Lodosa or Piquillo peppers. Red Menorcan beef entrecôte with old cheese sauce or perigaux sauce. A red breed bull steak from Menorca grilled with holm oak or wild olive charcoal. Also for a stew or beef goulash.

As a good local lamb wine, it pairs with baked lamb legs and shoulders, as well as with grilled suckling lamb ribs, without leaving out the stuffed lamb leg or our traditional lamb neck and breast stew.

Game dishes such as Menorcan-style thrushes, partridges with cabbage, boneless woodcock in a bun, grilled quail, as well as free-range rabbit meat, whether on rice, grilled or with macaroni, are popular.

This is a wine that will suit us like a glove to accompany a baked suckling pig, some baked black pork loin chops with potatoes and tomato, or a barbecue of pork chops, sobrasada and blood sausage or a chanterelle sandwich. the grill seasoned with olive oil, paprika, garlic and parsley.

It pairs well with cod dishes, from a loin to some cocochas al pil-pil, including cod with red peppers, fried or battered cod, cod a la llauna or with leeks.
