From this morning you can try the proposals offered by 9 restaurants in Menorca, which are participating in the gastronomic days "The forgotten banquet", which present a series of dishes of historic Menorcan cuisine, either on their menu, in their set menus or as recommendations of the day throughout this Constitution long weekend, where customers, both Menorcan and visitors, can find different seasonal dishes and our traditional cuisine.
The bars and restaurants that participate and the dishes they present or recommend are:
Bananas: Macaroni with rabbit.
Dos Camins: Macaroni with rabbit, cod burrida and almond cake with white delicacy.
Es Garbell: Stuffed squid baked with sweet potato, cod with red peppers, pork loin with chanterelle and "esclata-sangs" sauce, roast lamb.
Es Tast de na Sílvia: Menorcan red veal cooked with onion and capers, following the recipe from Fra Roger's book Art of Cooking. (This recipe takes three days to prepare and three different cooking times) and Fresh cheese and mint fritters.
Roma Pizzeria: Squid in the fisherman's style.
Loar: Oliaigua, Menorcan stuffed courgette and Menorcan stuffed squid.
Es Molí des Racó: Menorcan squid and s'Aranjassa cheesecake.
Calucha: Menorcan squid stew.
Cristine Bedfor: Adaptation of the recipe "Another egg omelette in a different way with onion" from Fra Roger's book Art of Cooking.
"The Forgotten Banquet, historic and stately cuisine of Menorca" is a gastronomic event organised by the Menorca Restaurant Association with the sponsorship of the Menorca Tourism Promotion Foundation and the collaboration of Fra Roger Gastronomy and Culture, Foodies on Menorca and Cómete Menorca with the aim of supporting restaurants that are open in the low season and giving value to Menorcan gastronomy through historic cuisine recipes that encompass traditional, stately, conventual, peasant and artisan cuisine.
