Gastronomic superstitions about women and their lunar cycle

When slaughtering pigs in Menorca, great care was taken to ensure that women were not on their period, because according to them, everything they touched would spoil, especially things that were left raw, such as sobrasadas... With this issue, the peasantry was very careful.

Women in this lunar state, when they were menstruating, could not sow beans or certain flowers, because they would grow poorly or die.

It is also said that a woman who is on her moon, her period, will not be able to emulsify a mayonnaise sauce, not even with a blender and even less with a mortar, and that due to body temperature it will cut and never emulsify.
