Yesterday in Binitord, the pilot test of wool padding in a vineyard began.
This test aims to empirically demonstrate the benefits of this practice. Thus, for 9 months, an exhaustive monitoring of different parameters such as soil moisture, conductivity and temperature at different levels will be carried out, with the technical assistance of Raoul Ferrer, specialized in the use of this material in agriculture. The incidence of adventitious plants and the agricultural tasks that must be carried out in order to create an appropriate protocol for its use will also be monitored.
It is hoped that this initiative can generalize its use, giving an outlet for wool in places in Menorca and at the same time improving the climate resilience of crops, such as vineyards, among others. This project has the collaboration of the Consell Insular de Menorca and the institutional support of the Conselleria d'Agricultura, Pesca i Medi Natural.
