The M. Àngels Cardona Secondary School was the setting for the 2025 Young Chef Menorquí Competition, an initiative that aims to promote local cuisine among the island's youth. In this edition, the three young contestants demonstrated their culinary skills by preparing arròs de la terra, a traditional Menorcan dish that highlights indigenous flavors and local cuisine.
The winner of the competition was Joan Taltavull, who captivated the judges with his personal and carefully prepared version of the dish, standing out for its technique, flavor, and presentation. The event was attended by more than 100 spectators, who were able to follow the competition live and cheer on the participants in a festive, family-friendly atmosphere.
In addition to the competition, the day offered two parallel activities that were very well received by the audience. First, there was a talk on innovative holistic nutrition, focused on promoting healthy and sustainable habits. Second, the little ones participated in a pastissets workshop, where more than 25 children learned to make this typical Menorcan dessert, enjoying a fun and educational experience.
The Jove Xef Menorquí 2025 competition once again highlighted the emerging talent of young Menorcan chefs and the commitment of the educational and gastronomic community to preserving and innovating the island's traditional cuisine.
