Bep Al·lès/Ciutadella – Thanks to Vinum Menorca this week we recommend a Galician red wine from the DO Valdeorras. This is Joaquin Rebolledo Tinto Barrica, made with Mencia, Tempranillo, Sousón, Garnacha and Brancellao grapes with 9 months of aging and without any physical or chemical treatment for its tartaric stabilization.
View: Garnet red, high layer and good tears.
Nose: Elegant and very clean. Perfect ripeness of red and black fruits. Licorice, pepper, caramel… Spicy mineral and balsamic notes.
Mouth: Conscious and long palate, with sweet and tasty tannins. Good smoothness and structure. Glycerid, round and very long and fragrant aftertaste.
It is the ideal wine to accompany red meats, game dishes and aged cheeses, as well as slow-cooked dishes.
It will be great for a dinner with friends or as a couple where the protagonists are the old cheeses of Menorca, such as those from Quintana, Binigarba, Son Piris or Bini Atzem, which we can also accompany with a selection of Menorcan sausages such as old sobrasada, carn i xulla, cuixot and botifarrons.
If we are among friends to have a barbecue, this wine is a very good option to accompany not only grilled red Menorcan beef, but also lamb or pork ribs, sausages, blood sausages, sobrasada and also cuts of beef in an Argentinian way such as vacío, entraña or churrasco.
With autumn we get these game dishes such as rolls stuffed with woodcock or with thrushes, quail stuffed with marzipan, thrushes with sauce, and also rice dishes where game meats and mushrooms will be the protagonists.
Pairs with slow-cooked dishes such as stews and meat stews, or classics of Menorcan cuisine such as macaroni with rabbit or French dishes such as beef bourguinon or chicken in wine.
