The current L’Àncora was born in 1982, when the parents of Luís Galán, the owner, decided to acquire it from the previous owner. "Before it was a small bar, one of the only ones in the urbanization. And when we took it over, it grew little by little until it became the restaurant it is today", Galan explains.
L'Àncora is a traditional Spanish food establishment, which offers an economical and diverse menu, based on quality products. The public can find from the most typical tapas such as patates bravas or calamari a la romana, through starters such as salmorejo or seafood soup, and special and various pizzas and hamburgers, up to fried fish varied, or the baked cod au gratin. All typical dishes of our nation, but without abandoning, in any case, the foreign ones or the most local ones, such as nachos or stuffed red peppers.
Since 2018, the establishment has been in the hands of Luís Galán, the son of the previous owner and, therefore, the second generation at the head of the restaurant. However, he spends his whole life working on this one, and seeing how his parents have been carrying him. It is a family business.
But, and even if the restaurant still has that more traditional part, that of its parents, who in some way are still there, it has also started to be renovated. "We have to evolve little by little. Among other things, we needed a more modern letter, with a more updated design. And this year we decided to make the change". A menu that now presents new dishes, although it continues to maintain the essence of L'Àncora, and the traditional economic prices.
A restaurant for all audiences, which has managed to survive more than four decades, and with them, many of the economic crises that have occurred. As Galan remembers, "we've been through a lot, the one in 1991, the one in 2008, most recently the Covid... and you survive by fighting and working hard. You have to know how to adapt to the times that are coming". Times that, whether due to difficulties or changes, present real challenges for the restaurant sector. But some to which restaurants like L'Àncora have gradually and without problem adapted. And they will continue to do so.
