C. M. /Ferreries - La Casa Gastronòmica de Ferreries celebrates its second anniversary next Saturday, April 6. It does so with a program full of activities that includes a tribute to the families of two of the most popular establishments in the municipality: Los Claveles and the Loar restaurant.
After holding a children's workshop in Plaça Espanya, Bep Al·lès, director and editor of the Setmanaris i Revistes group, publishing company of the weekly El Iris and the Revista de Ferreries, among other publications, will present, at noon, his new book "Sa cuina de ca n'Squella" at the association's premises.
The new book by the writer and gastronome from Ciutadella is the second volume of "Cuina senyorial de Menorca" and has a hundred traditional recipes from the noble house of Ca n'Squella.
Unlike other stately home cookbooks, the ca n'Squella one has more cooking than pastry dishes, apart from ancient ways of cooking over a heat fire.
The recipe book reflects the opulence and sophistication of the ingredients and recipes that could be savored by the most favored social classes, such as the nobility of Ciutadella.
At the end of the book presentation, there will be a tasting of Sidra Kane and a vermouth concert by The Gentlment Jack's. A giant paella will take place at half past two. A donation of €1.50 will be made for each person who signs up, for the benefit of the Ferreries Red Cross. Advance ticket sales (€10) will take place at the Bookstore, Can Pedro and the Red Cross of Ferreries itself.
Then, the tribute to Los Claveles and Loar, at four o'clock, at the association's premises. And at six o'clock, to say goodbye to the anniversary celebration, the Escoltes de Sant Bartomeu will offer a popular toast in front of the headquarters of the entity, which will be entertained by the Rock Sons concert.
The Associació Casa Gastronòmica de Ferreries was launched two years ago with the aim of "maintaining the typical character and gastronomic customs of the Balearic Islands", through talks on nutrition, wine tasting sessions or local products, cooking, pastry, cocktail workshops and the dissemination of local recipes, among other activities.
