The eight municipalities of Menorca will have a delicious month of December. From the 7th to the 29th of the last month of the year, nine live ‘showcookings’ will take place that will serve as a stimulus for the Jove Xef Menorquí competition, whose winner will be the Menorcan representative in the European Young Chef Award 2025. Ferreries, on the 7th, will be in charge of opening the route jointly organized by the Fundació Foment del Turisme de Menorca and the eight municipalities of the Island, with a demonstration that will take place at 12 in Plaça Espanya.
These live cooking demonstrations are also an opportunity to bring Menorcan masters and young culinary talents closer to society and for them to present their proposals with an eye on tradition and the use of local produce. After Ferreries, the itinerant kitchen will move to Maó, on the 8th at 1:30 p.m., at the Mercat des Claustre, and on the 14th it will take place in Sant Lluís, at 12 noon in the Plaça de Sa Creu, and at 6 p.m. in the Convent de San Diego.
Es Castell, on the 15th at 12 noon, will be the next stop, in the Sala Polivalent, while on the 20th the Plaça del Mercat de Ciutadella will host a new event at 12 noon. On Sunday, the 21st, at 12 noon, it will be Fornells' turn, in Plaça de s'Algaret, while Plaça Pare Camps, des Mercadal, will be the chosen place for December 28th at 12 noon. The last stop will be at Sa Plaça des Migjorn Gran at 12 noon.
These demonstrations serve to stimulate the emerging culinary talents of the Island and as a prelude to the Jove Xef Menorquí competition, whose winner will take over from Óscar Roca, winner this 2024, and who has recently been participating in the European Young Chef Award in Catania, Sicily, representing Menorca, the European Region of Gastronomy.
