Francisco 'Paco' Carrasco Rubio was born in Algeciras in 1943, but his life has been fully rooted in Ciutadella de Menorca since he arrived there when he was just 6 years old.
His story is that of a young worker who started in humble jobs after the war and went a long way to become a key figure in the local hospitality industry. Son of Bartolomé Carrasco and Maria Rubio, Paco and his family moved to Menorca after his father arrived on the island to work as a foreman in the Ciutadella port works. Despite losing his father prematurely, Paco moved on, working in various trades from a very young age.
With the constant support of his wife, Juana Florit Bosch, Paco founded the bar-cafeteria Ses Voltes, also known as Can Carrasco. This establishment, born in the 80s and currently transformed into Espai Gastronòmic Ses Voltes, is managed by his children and is a benchmark in Ciutadella, offering modern cuisine but rooted in tradition.
Paco Carrasco's path did not start directly in the restaurant industry. At the end of the 1950s, he worked in the jewelery factory that his brother Tolo had opened, and soon after he decided to set up a souvenir shop in the center of Ciutadella. Over time, the store expanded to become Galerías Carrasco, including gifts and toys, until in 1982 the business turned completely to hospitality.
Ses Voltes became a leading restaurant in Ciutadella, with a business model that included its own ice cream making and one of the first pizzerias on the island. Over time, this spirit of innovation was maintained thanks to the involvement of his children, who have expanded and continued the family business.
