Palm Sunday cascas

Palm Sunday cascas

One of the typical products of Lent and Easter confectionery is cascas, which were the snack of Palm Sunday, which the archduke collected as “rotlos”, for their cylindrical shape in the form of a ring, and which are made with coca bamba paste.

In Ciutadella, the Panificadora is making them again, following the publication of the recipe in the book “Sa cuina des poble de Menorca, repostería y pastelería” and they are even made to order or reservation.

The casca, this coca in the form of a ring, like the coca bamba or the Menorcan ensaimada, which in Ciutadella we call ensaimada de San Juan, was eaten dipped in hot chocolate.
