Today, the "Table with Heart" solidarity initiative, promoted by Cáritas Menorca and Cómete Menorca, was presented at a press conference. This innovative proposal invites the island's restaurants to reserve a special table where, when occupied by their customers, a percentage of the proceeds are donated to social and environmental projects that work towards social and labour integration and sustainability in Menorca.
The presentation was attended by representatives of Cáritas Menorca and Cómete Menorca, who highlighted the importance of this collaboration to generate a positive impact in the community. With this initiative, each restaurant will be able to decide what percentage of the income obtained from this table will be donated to the Escola de Restauració Ca N'Aguedet of Cáritas and to the organic farming programme Arbres d'Algendar.
The Escola de Restauració Ca N'Aguedet is a key project of Cáritas Menorca that offers training and opportunities for social and labour integration to people at risk of social exclusion, guaranteeing their access to decent employment. For its part, Arbres d'Algendar promotes organic farming as a means of sustainable development and conservation of the Menorcan landscape.
"Every gesture counts, and this initiative shows that catering can be a great ally in building a more just and sustainable society."
Cómete Menorca is part of the "Company with Heart" programme, the CSR work area of ??Cáritas Menorca, and Cáritas is grateful for its ongoing commitment to various solidarity initiatives.
Cáritas Menorca and Cómete Menorca encourage all restaurants on the island to join this solidarity network, putting their "heart on the table" and helping to improve the lives of many people.
