The Department of Economy and General Services allocates 15,000 euros to the Association of Breeders of Menorca Cattle

The Executive Council of the Island Council of Menorca has approved the collaboration agreement between the administration and the Association of Breeders of Menorca Cattle to support the promotional actions carried out between November 16, 2023 and November 15, 2024 with the aim of increasing their knowledge and improving their promotion and marketing.

The Association of Breeders of Menorcan Cattle is a non-profit organisation that was established in 1998 with the main objective of preserving the Menorcan breed of cattle, a species in serious danger of extinction in the Balearic territory, of which only 514 specimens remained in 2001. At present, after much effort and dedication, this figure is 2,604 specimens.

In this way, the Department of Economy and General Services grants a nominative aid of 15,000 euros to cover actions such as participation in fairs, the realisation of gastronomic events (such as the VI SME Gastronomic Day or the IV Route of the Menorcan red cow hamburger) and other events, campaigns and promotional material (such as advertisements, sponsorships and promotional campaigns to the media). The last day to present the justification will be January 7, 2025.

“This promotion has a direct economic impact on the Menorcan economy, so it is in the interest of this department to collaborate with this association to contribute to the maintenance of its activity and its growth. The actions carried out by the Association seek to make the population, especially Menorcan, aware of these foods and their eating and culinary skills,” explains the councilor Maria Antònia Taltavull.
