The Department of Economy and General Services of the Consell Insular de Menorca will allocate 8,500 euros to the Menorcan Association of Beekeepers. The agreement is contemplated in an agreement signed by both parties to support the activities carried out by the entity in terms of training, advice, organization of honey contests and for the expenses derived from the daily operations of the association.
The Menorcan Association of Beekeepers is non-profit and is made up of beekeepers who are registered in the official beekeeping registry of the Consell Insular de Menorca (REGA). It is the only association of these characteristics that exists in Menorca. This year’s contribution to the entity increases by 3,500 euros compared to last year.
The Consell Insular de Menorca considers that the Menorcan Association of Beekeepers performs an important function of preserving the species, guaranteeing environmental balance and biodiversity. The contribution of bees in the agricultural-livestock world is based mainly on the pollination work they perform. On the other hand, they favor the natural regeneration of forests.
