The Field Fair celebrates its 36th edition this weekend

The Camp d’Alaior Fair will once again be the stage to recognize and honor the vital work of the entire Menorcan primary sector.

José Luis Benejam, mayor of Alaior, Maria Antònia Taltavull, Minister of Economy and Agriculture of the CIME, Jaume Moll, president of the Balearic Frisian Association and José Ramón de Olives, secretary of the same association have announced the extensive program that contemplates the fair as well as the details of the expected 36th edition of the Menorca Friesian Cattle Morphological Competition.

Benejam has remarked that “it is an opportunity to increase the degree of social knowledge regarding what is done in the countryside, especially the work carried out by our farmers”.

Maria Antònia Taltavull, Minister of Economy and Agriculture of the CIME, has focused on the defense of Menorca’s countryside, saying that “the countryside is vital and we cannot live without it. The Insular Council of Menorca is pleased to support this initiative, aimed at making known the activity of farmers and the primary sector, with lives without rest and without weekends to take care of the land and our food».

A total of 31 farms and 175 heads of cattle will participate in this edition of the competition. Most of Ciutadella but also Alaior, Es Mercadal, Ferreries, Es Migjorn Gran, and Maó.

In the Morphological Competition there are different categories, one of them is that of Promised Futures, which is very important since Alaior is the only place where it takes place at a national level.

As for the exhibition branch of the fair, there will be 100 exhibitors from Menorca, Mallorca and Catalonia, from companies and organizations of all kinds (agricultural machinery, agri-food products, handicrafts, insurance, flowers, country utensils, bars) that during the two days of the fair will offer their products and services to the attendees.

The Fira del Camp de Menorca is organized by the Alaior Town Council and the Balearic Frisian Association, with the collaboration of the Government of the Balearic Islands and the Menorca Island Council.
