With the aim of promoting and highlighting Menorcan gastronomy, the Menorcan Association of Bars, Restaurants and Cafeterias kicks off the 11th edition of the gastronomic days “Els Dimecres és dia de Brou”. Starting this Wednesday, December 11, lovers of good cooking will be able to enjoy one of the most traditional and emblematic recipes of the island: the Brou Menorquí, known as the "Menorcan stew".
This dish, full of flavour and tradition, has its roots in the island's cuisine and is made up of local ingredients such as "xenc" beef, chicken, potatoes, chickpeas, tomato, onion and soup herbs. The Brou Menorquí is served in two courses: first, a noodle soup with the cooking broth, and then, a second course with the meat, potatoes and chickpeas. It is a spoon dish that is eaten very hot, perfect for cold winter days. With the arrival of cold weather in Menorca, this dish becomes a particularly appetising and comforting option, reflecting the essence of Menorcan gastronomy.
The participating restaurants and bars will offer the special menu “Els Dimecres és dia de Brou”, consisting of:
First course: Noodle soup (Brou del bullit menorquí).
Second course: Potatoes, chickpeas and bullit menorquí meat.
Water or glass of wine.
Bread and dessert.
The takeaway menu option is maintained, which offers the possibility of enjoying this delicious dish in the comfort of your home. All restaurants that offer this service will also be promoted.
Up to six different Brous, but with the same essence, can be tasted by taking a culinary route around the island in restaurants specialising in Menorcan gastronomy:
