The Department of Economy and General Services of the Insular Council of Menorca has approved two collaboration agreements with the Menorca Wine Association and the Menorca Oil Association for this year 2024.
In the first case, the Insular Council will allocate 12,000 euros to the Menorca Wine Association in order to support the campaigns to disseminate and promote Menorca's wine, as well as training activities for professionals in the island's wine sector that the association will carry out between January 1 and December 31, 2024, with the aim of increasing knowledge of this product and improving its promotion and marketing.
The actions to be carried out within the framework of this agreement are:
– Attendance and expenses of local or national fairs, wine competitions, local events for the promotion and presentation of professional wines.
– Promotional actions: advertisements, publicity, updating of information on the website and communication strategy in local and specialized media.
– Training of producers and customers. Expenses for speakers, premises and events.
“The wine industry is an important complement to the island's gastronomic offer and at the same time a tourist and cultural attraction. Touring the wineries and their plantations is another attraction for Menorcans and their visitors, and therefore, in general, promotes the diversification of agricultural activity and the improvement of the Menorcan rural economy”, explains the councilor, Maria Antònia Taltavull.
On the other hand, the Insular Council also grants a grant of 10,000 euros to the Associació Oli de Menorca, a non-profit association established in 2014 with the purpose of promoting and defending the interests of producers of olives for oil and olive and olive oil on the island of Menorca and ensuring the quality of their products.
The purpose of this agreement is to support the dissemination and promotion activities carried out by the association from January 1 to December 31, 2024. The activities to be carried out are, among others, the presentation of the new oil of the year 2024 of the IGP (Protected Geographical Indication), advertising in different media and attending fairs.
In both cases, the last day to present the justification will be January 15, 2025.
