The restaurant and gastronomy sector suffers from the fact that St. Stephen has not been a holiday

The restaurant sector has suffered the elimination of the second Christmas holiday or St. Stephen as a holiday, because, as the president of Menorca Restauración, José Bosch, has stated on social networks, it is one of the days when the bars and restaurants sector had the most turnover.

It must be taken into account that in December many restaurants are closed, and those that decide to stay open all year round, even in December, January and February, the months with the lowest influx of customers, have lost one of the days when they had the most turnover and this may lead them to think about opening in December next year.

The fact that the second Christmas holiday was a working day has meant that many people have not gone out to eat and on the other hand, it has also caused many others not to get together to eat with their families, and our traditional gastronomy has lost the custom of the queen's soup and cannelloni.

There have been a few voices on social media asking for December 26 to be a public holiday on the Islands, as it has always been, or some have even proposed keeping Boxing Day as a public holiday instead of Easter Monday.
