This evening from 6:30 p.m., the opening party will take place for the new store that replaces the one previously owned by the San Crispín Cooperative on the same street, a bright and welcoming place that has become the most modern and advanced of all the ones that the entity currently manages and which, as a pilot store, anticipates a new concept of design and shopping experience that from now on is intended to be applied to the rest of its establishments in the coming years. A space for members and customers in order to provide service in the heart of the town of Alaior, which has all the essential sections to be able to provide a well-stocked shopping basket with fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and delicatessen in the style of Menorca , in addition to bio and eco products distributed among its 226 square meters of useful surface area out of the 283 built. A new modern and functional San Crispín that is equipped with the latest generation devices such as low-consumption cold walls and zero emissions thanks to a liquefied air cooling system, which will also allow considerable energy savings.
Local property
One of the most significant facts is that it is a premises owned by the Cooperative. The old Ramal store was for rent and although the initial idea of the Board of Directors was to undertake its modernization, from San Crispín they were unable to negotiate a long-term lease in order to justify the investment in its improvement. Despite the fact that there are not many properties available in the center of Alaior, it was prioritized to find one close to the old location in order not to transfer too many members and customers. It was finally possible to get this one where there had previously been a savings bank and which in the past had housed the old Cine Espanya. Being a local with 20 percent less commercial exposure, it made it plan with a more optimized assortment according to the type of regular customer, thinking that if some product could not fit there, it could be available he the next day from the Central de San Crispín itself. The operation of the acquisition of the property was announced in an informational meeting at the beginning of 2023 and subsequently ratified unanimously by the General Assembly of Members held the following June, an operation that allowed the cooperative to become patrimonial with an investment of 260,000 euros in the form of a mortgage loan to renovate the premises and turn it into the new Ramal. The works lasted six months and fifteen companies from Menorca participated.
The opening ceremony this evening will feature the music of Eva Pons Trio and the attendance of both the President of the Menorca Island Council, Adolfo Vilafranca and the Batle d'Alaior, José Luís Benejam, is confirmed. The best gift for the 70th anniversary that the Cooperativa de San Crispín celebrated last year with its 3,500 members will undoubtedly have been this new store that officially opens its doors today.
