The sweet goodbye of Los Claveles

The sweet goodbye of Los Claveles

Silve Pons / Foodies on Menorca - Thursday, September 24, 2024, the feast day of Sant Antoni Maria Claret, the historic Los Claveles oven, emblematic of Ferreries, but also of the whole island, closed. It will have been 72 years of total dedication to Menorcan bakery and confectionery with that characteristic ingredient that no one knows, but that everyone recognizes, and which makes the products of Ferreries ovens unique. On Friday the 25th, na Clara, Na Vita, n’Andrés, nAina and the whole Los Claveles family wanted to share a last batch with the whole town of Ferreries to thank them for these years of trust and loyalty. And the people responded, and so much that they responded! Filling Avenida Verge del Toro with words of congratulations, with hugs, with a few tears and with many memories. And even the choir of Cas Jubilats presented a song dedicated to Los Claveles that still resonates through the town.

Let's say goodbye to a part of the history of Ferreries, the one started by Miquel Pons "Xedo" and na Genoveva Allès in 1952; a story that has been continued by his descendants and that has a bittersweet ending: on the one hand the pain of leaving an emblematic business and on the other hand the satisfaction of a job well done and the recognition and love of an entire town. Thanks family!!
